Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund Celebrates Scholarship Recipients and Launches 2023-24 Application

On January 6, 2024, the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund celebrated current and former scholarship recipients at the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz game. The evening began with a reception where scholarship recipients and alumni networked with one another, honored new inductees into the program, and heard from Selina Gross, sister of Wilt Chamberlain, on the importance of the program and how they can use their education to provide opportunities for others.

Following the reception, the new inductees in attendance were honored in an on-court recognition. Participating in the recognition were Luc Chapall (University of Tenneessee-Knoxville), Trevor Gardner (North Carolina Central University), Jianwei Li (University of Pennsylvania), and Devin Torres (University of South California). The new class also includes Tina Jiang (Northeastern University) and Malachi Neal (University of Pennsylvania).

Applications for the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund are now being accepted until April 22 for high school seniors in the Philadelphia area with financial need, who are furthering their studies at a four-year college or university, a two-year community college, or a vocational school. Scholars are selected based not only on their academic accomplishments and financial need, but also their embodiment of Wilt Chamberlain’s characteristics of hard work and the pursuit of greatness, as well as a passion for volunteering and serving others.
